Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Mixed to Positive!

1. India Today -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Laal Singh Chaddha's timeline ends abruptly in 2018, right before the Balakot Air Strike, says a lot about how scared this Chaddha is of the 'chaddis'. The thing I liked most about Laal Singh Chaddha is Shah Rukh Khan. Go figure.

Rating Score -> 2/5
#LaalSinghChaddha: DISAPPOINTS. Rating: ⭐️⭐️ #AamirKhan’s comeback vehicle #LSC runs out of fuel midway… Lacks a captivating screenplay to enthrall you [second half goes downhill]… Has some terrific moments, but lacks fire in totality. #LaalSinghChaddhaReview

3. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 2/5
Aamir Khan falls back on easy crutches in a meandering tale. It’s not just the pace of the film which is the trouble. It is also, centrally and crucially, Sardar Laal Singh Chaddha himself, as played by Aamir Khan.

4. News 18 -

Rating Score -> 4/5
In a dialogue, Laal says, ‘Meri mummy kehti thi ki ‘zindagi golgappe jaisi hondi hai, pet bhale hi bhar jaawe, man nahi bharta.’ I wasn’t satisfied with Laal and wanted to patiently hear his story. Laal Singh Chaddha leaves you with tears, smile and a reflective state of mind.

5. Hindustan Times -

Rating Score -> n/a
It's difficult to talk about Laal Singh Chaddha in isolation and not draw comparisons with Forrest Gump. If you haven't seen the original, I suggest you watch Aamir's film first and you'd then you would know for yourself if you indeed want to watch the original. The loyal Forrest Gump fans, I feel, won't really be super impressed by this remake, which remains a faithful adaptation, loyal tribute because yeah, that's what we have been seeing in all official remakes so far. Watch Laal Singh Chaddha for ace performances from Aamir and Kareena and that cute kid.

6. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Advait Chandan enters Rajkumar Hirani’s warm, funny and provocative satire space and succeeds partially. He creates a faithful but lengthy adaptation (2 hours 40 minutes) that makes a clever commentary on India’s political landscape. The film may not be as effortlessly moving or immersive as the original but it will make you want to see it with your family.

7. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a
Advait Chandan’s faithful adaptation of ‘Forrest Gump’ hardly asks any tough questions, almost tutors the audience, and doesn’t allow the visuals to communicate. Aamir Khan valiantly runs towards safety.

8. Komal Nahta -

Rating Score -> n/a
Laal Singh Chaddha is a dull and over-indulgent fare which will find some appreciation among the classes mainly but will not find favour with the masses. It will, therefore, not make a mark at the box-office. Collections in high-end multiplexes will be somewhat good but the film will not be able to score in lesser multiplexes, single-screen cinemas and smaller stations.

9. NDTV -

Rating Score -> 3/5
One could say pretty much the same about Laal Singh Chaddha. Its flaws notwithstanding, it is a highly watchable film that hits the right buttons for the most part.

10. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Whether or not a Forrest Gump remake was needed, Laal Singh Chaddha does not let its source down. And replacing a box of chocolates with a ready-to-eat gol gappe kit is geeeenius, like Laal's Ustad would say.

11. DNA -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Aamir Khan's film Laal Singh Chaddha has made a valiant effort to deliver a message of forgiveness, optimism and compassion during these tumultuous times in the country where the language row, the North vs South debate are creating a rift in the nation and social media boycott trends and cancel culture built on false narratives are fostering hatred, it hasn't been as impactfully delivered as it was intended to be.

12. Outlook India -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Aamir Khan Is No Tom Hanks, But His 'Forrest Gump' Remake Is A Perfect Mixture Of Emotions, Bromance And Love

  6. Strangely ToI came with a 3.5 rating even before the two reviews posted here. Clearly addatoday is deliberately trying to show negative or perception of LSC.
