#OneWordReview...
#Sadak2: UNBEARABLE.
Rating: Medium star
Just cannot be compared to its first part... Lacklustre plot... Lethargic and lifeless screenwriting... Music doesn’t work either... Terrible waste of the brand [#Sadak] and talent associated with this film. #Sadak2Review

In a nutshell, ‘Sadak 2’, for everyone involved with this project, should have been a ‘road not taken’. And for those who are planning on watching this purely for sentimental reasons, be forewarned: This Sadak leads nowhere, turn back. Jai Guru ji!

Rating Score -> 1/5
Music of this film doesn’t have a shelf life. 'Ishq Kamaal' has some recall value but the rest of the songs – 'Shukriya', 'Tum Se Hi' and 'Dil Ki Purani Sadak' – don’t leave a mark. Sandeep Chowta's background score is sans complaints. Jay I Patel's cinematography is quite good and captures the locales well. Abbas Ali Moghul's action is theatrical. Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty's production design and Priyanka Bhatt's costumes are fine. Sandeep Kurup's editing is nothing special. On the whole, SADAK 2 is confusing, depressing and a dull fare.

Nearly thirty years later comes this ‘sequel’, and straight away you know that this one is a lost cause. Not that Sanjay Dutt, now appropriately older and attractively grizzled, reprising his role as the strong-of-heart taxi-driver Ravi, has lost anything. And it isn’t as if Alia Bhatt, whose heiress-on-the-run Aarya needs desperately to hit the road, isn’t a solid performer.

For hopeless romantics, a diehard lover in this film shares that “pyaar kachre ko bhi sona bana deta hain”. Also, he’s the same person who breaks into song when a pistol is pointed at him. And just when you thought miracles were confined to mythological dramas, this film has an owl called Kumbhakaran who suddenly awakens from his slumber to save the day. Quite a hoot, this one.

So why should you sign up for this? I'd strongly recommend you don't. There are enough horrors in the world right now and this is absolutely skippable. At least your fiction could be better than your reality. If you still insist on a viewing, I'd say go for Dutt. The classic Sanju baba swagger works like a charm still!

The trouble with Sadak 2 is that it is so deeply entrenched in the worst aspects of 90s filmmaking that all of Dutt’s aching intensity and hell-for-leather action cannot free it. It’s a far cry from the superb cinema Mahesh Bhatt served us back in the day – I speak of Naam and Zakhm, Arth and Daddy. Sadak 2 regurgitates the most cliched, exaggerated pulp that Bollywood spewed out in the decade, and in the one preceding it.

Rating Score -> 1.5/5
Sadak 2, despite a committed act from Sanjay Dutt, doesn't become a trip worthy to take down the memory lane. Nor does it have anything to hold on to impress the fans of its younger stars, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. This is perhaps Mahesh Bhatt's dullest film to date, something we didn't expect when the filmmaker returned to directing after 20 years. Sadak 2 is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

On the whole, Sadak 2 is not at all a worthy sequel to the hit Sadak. Had the film been released in the cinemas, it would have met with a disastrous fate. Even now, it will not be liked by the audience.

When someone suggests that he turn on the GPS, the cab driver preens that he does not need the help of a machine to find an address. Not bad, but even he cannot guide Sadak 2 to its destination. A journey without a map that shilly-shallies between appalling vacuity and pulpy pontification on life and death, the film is a one-way, dead-end ride. All it yields is a ghastly pile-up of inanities.
