1. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 4/5

Maidaan is a must-watch on the big screen for the thrilling experience and outstanding storytelling. It truly emulates the dialogue in the movie, ‘Kismat haathon se nahi, paeron se likhi jaati hai,’ as the team puts its best foot forward with the stellar outing!

2. First Post -

Rating Score -> 3/5

Ajay Devgn powers this sports drama with a restrained and rousing performance. Ajay Devgn, as Syed Abdul Rahim, has a certain sense of composure about him. He’s free from the constraints of emulating Syed Abdul Rahim’s nuances since his mannerisms and personality are not known to many

3. Times Now -

Rating Score -> 3/5

Ajay Devgn Starrer Thrills In Emotional Football Saga. Amit Sharma's riveting film recaptures the golden era of Indian football's success internationally, with a strong lead performance by its star Ajay Devgn.

4. Zoom TV -

Rating Score -> 3/5

The film is a must-watch, whether you are a football fan, Ajay Devgn Fan, or just a sports fanatic. The drama intertwined with the emotions and hardships of the Indian football team from 1952 to 1963 and the corruption and politics by the federation members makes it worth a watch.

5. News 18 -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

Maidaan deserves to be watched. The film brings back emotions that we once felt while watching Chak De! India. I assure you, you won’t leave the theatre without at least hooting once.

6. India Today -

Rating Score -> 4/5

'Maidaan' is not only a treat for football enthusiasts but also quite a delight for movie lovers. It immortalises the unsung hero, after whom India never qualified for the Olympics.

7. Hindustan Times -

Rating Score -> n/a

Maidaan does get melodramatic at places it could have avoided, but what's a sports film without a bit of a drama on the field and off it, too. Watch this film on the big screen to feel the adrenaline rush, enjoy some thrilling football and laud a coach who was as good as his team.

8. Taran Adarsh -

Rating Score -> 4/5

#Maidaan is, without doubt, one of the finest sports-based films made in #India… Captivating second half, brilliant finale and an award-worthy act by #AjayDevgn are its biggest strengths… Fitting tribute to #TeamIndia and Coach #SARahim by Team #Maidaan… STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! #MaidaanReview

9. DNA -

Rating Score -> 4/5

Amit Sharma scores a winner with Bollywood's best sports drama in years, Ajay Devgn shines yet again. Maidaan will be remembered as one of the best sports dramas in India in recent times, and just for managing this, director Amit Ravindernath Sharma deserves praise.

10. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 2/5

Maidaan is its truest when the real faces behind that historical win surface in their old glory. Too bad it's the end of what could have been a beginning.

11. Komal Nahta -

Rating Score -> n/a

Maidaan has an extraordinary second half but a very ordinary first half. It will do well at the ticket counters on the strength of the fast-paced and thoroughly enjoyable post-interval portion but it will miss being the blockbuster it could’ve been, because of the boring first half. Collections are bound to pick up phenomenally due to strong word of mouth.

12. India TV -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

Despite all the flaws, Maidaan is one of the finest sports films made in India. Overall, the 3 hours 1 minute movie is a fine watch and rightly deserves 3.5 stars.

13. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Ajay Devgn film makes you want to clap, cheer and shed a proud tear. Ajay Devgn plays Syed Abdul Rahim with a patent sincerity and only a hint of the slo-mo swagger. His rag-tag team has the kind of composition so syncretic that it makes you ache with nostalgia.

14. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a

Ajay Devgn takes a straight shot at sporting glory. Amit Sharma’s faithful representation of the golden era of Indian football scores big on craft but could have done with a little more colour

15. NDTV -

Rating Score -> 2/5

Maidaan tells an overlong, peppered-with-fiction narrative that struggles to balance the real and essential with its unabashed goal of working the audience up into a frenzy.
