Chup, Dhokha and Avatar First Day Box Office Collection in India

Chup, Dhokha, and Avatar (re-release) also get a big boost at the box office and all thanks to National Cinema Day. All films outperformed on day 1 (Friday) as all reported sold-out or near about sold-out shows.

Chup collected an excellent 2.5 crore nett approx on the first day. In a normal scenario that would have been the first-weekend business. Chup registered an occupancy of 70-75% for day 1 which is simply mindboggling stuff. There will be a drop on Saturday for sure and we hope that drop is acceptable.

Avatar which is re-released in India collected 2 crore nett approx on Friday. This is insane as the film got limited screening and tickets were capped at Rs 75. Despite that film recorded such numbers. Just imagine what will happen at the box office on 16th December when Avatar 2 will be released. No doubt there will be mass pandemonium and all pre-existing records will be smashed.

A small film like Dhokha also collected 1 crore nett approx on Friday. This is simply unbelievable to say. Ideally, such films would have got an opening of 20-25 lakh nett approx on day 1. Here it is 5 times more than the normal level. There is no doubt that exhibition sectors should think about the ticket prices and if it is well controlled then there will be a significant increase in the footfalls. Hope they have learnt the lesson from National Cinema Day.
