#Brahmāstra: DISAPPOINTING. Rating: ⭐⭐ #Brahmāstra is a king-sized disappointment… High on VFX, low on content [second half nosedives]… #Brahmāstra could’ve been a game changer, but, alas, it’s a missed opportunity… All gloss, no soul. #BrahmāstraReview

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, ambitious and entertaining, has the makings of a blockbuster of the sort that Bollywood has been desperately seeking for a while. On the acting front, Ranbir and Alia achieve the impossible: they ensure that Shiva and Isha are always believable even as the goings-on around them are beyond fantastic.

3. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 1.5/5
Despite its razzle-dazzle, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt film fails to entertain. Despite all those non-stop computer graphics, the opulence of the sets, the starry array, the film’s commitment to its subject, we never really buy into it completely.

4. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Brahmastra shines best in action mode. Of its many set pieces, the highway car chase is one of the most thrilling. Like a relentless T-1000 going after his targets in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, this one too goes for the same brand of full throttle menace.

5. India Today -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
At a time when Hollywood titles like Lord of the Rings and House of the Dragon are dominating the visual effects space, Brahmastra is a gentle reminder that India too isn’t behind in the VFX game and has some of the best work in this genre. Ayan’s message of love defeating darkness and despair couldn’t come at a better time!

Watch Brahmastra because it's not every day that Bollywood churns out a film on this grand scale, with top-class VFX and creates a mystical universe that we only see in the West or closer home in the south film industry. And given that it's a planned trilogy, you'd be already left craving for a part two sooner.

Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva is a super-duper hit. It will do phenomenal business at the box-office and will also take Indian cinema several notches higher on the international map as far as visual effects are concerned. It has the potential to touch or almost touch the Rs. 100-crore mark in the first weekend, and touch or almost touch the Rs. 200-crore mark by the end of the second weekend.

8. News 18 -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Brahmastra is not a perfect film, but then few films are. It’s overlong at 2 hours and 46 minutes, and it’s both simple and simplistic in places. But it’s a solid and satisfying watch, a well crafted look and a vision of a filmmaker something that needs to applauded and appreciated. The film is a visual feast which needs to be watched on the big screen.

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
The line between great and good lies in a believable, character-led story that emotionally engages you. The most imaginative worlds created by cinema’s geniuses eventually rely on the writing to keep everything else glued perfectly in their places. With all its pluses, nothing makes up for the emotional deficits that Brahmastra suffers. If that had been paid more attention to, it would have gone a long way in making the proceedings more praise-worthy.

10. The Week -

Rating Score -> 1/5
At the end of the film, the makers announced Brahmastra – Part 2. Ayan Mukherji has wasted the skills and popularity of Shah Rukh Khan, Nagarjuna, and of course, Amitabh Bachchan. The same will happen with the next set of actors who decide to be part of Brahmastra movie cast. The best the audiences can do is brace themselves and just avoid it.

11. DNA  -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Brahmastra also tries hard to present itself as the revelation of deeper truths of humankind but doesn’t exactly get there where it wanted to be. With other films, the makers may achieve the near perfection they set out for.

12. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a
Despite the presence of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, the film’s writing turns out to be its biggest drawback with all the hype over Indian mythology just being a cosmetic cover

13. Khaleej Times -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Bollywood has spoilt us over the years by presenting larger than life human heroes who can pummel a dozen bad guys to submission with nary a scratch on their air brushed physiques, walk through fire, survive falls from dizzying heights and even stop bullets in their tracks. So as much as it may be a sight for sore eyes, a buff Ranbir Kapoor dancing around giddily in the middle of a field in awe of his fire harnessing power, doesn't impress us much.

14. Deccan Herald -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
'Brahmastra' is a popcorn movie that makes you marvel at its action sequences. Outside of it, Bollywood appears like the elder child struggling for good scores in the family (film industry). In that context, this is an encouraging improvement from the spoilt brat but he can do better.
