Randy and bawdy, Varun Dhawan-Kiara Advani film dilutes its big ideas. Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani film falls back on the familiar Big Fat Punjabi Wedding with opulent sets and wedding naach-gaana every time things threaten to get real and spiky.

While most of the jokes in ‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’ land pretty well, there’s background score to push you to laugh, in case some don’t. The film’s music is catchy with songs like ‘nach punjaban’ already becoming a rage. This family drama starts off well and ends even better.

JugJugg Jeeyo is an absolute family entertainer that talks about choosing relationships over selfishness and while doing so, there's nothing preachy about it. There's aren't any vulgar jokes or slapstick humour to infuse laughter and that makes JugJugg Jeeyo a clean comedy drama. Watch it on the big screen for it's one of those typical commercial potboilers that you call paisa vasool.

Very broad strokes are the stock-in-trade of this film, which, of course, could go a long way in endearing it to segments of the masses. But do not expect any nuanced ideas to flow out of this battle of the sexes that loses quickly its way in a maze. As a cinematic 'treatise' on marriage, Jugjugg Jeeyo for the ages. Watch it. You might find it entertaining. But insightful it certainly isn't.

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
At the heart of it, Jug Jugg Jeeyo is all about saving a marriage and realising that making a compromise and keeping your self-respect are two different conversations. Despite how deep the subjects might be, director Raj Mehta manages to use humour, sarcasm and wit to keep the proceedings light and engaging. Just like all marriages, the film isn’t perfect and has its fair share of flaws, and those imperfections make the film worthwhile.

On the whole, Jugjugg Jeeyo has good light moments but the drama is wrongly constructed and, therefore, does not hold much water. It will not be able to do well at the ticket windows.

JugJugg Jeeyo's gleeful lack of responsibility advocates good times over everything else. Luckily for Mehta, the actors in play are a complete hoot even when you aren't taking any of it seriously.

Irrespective of the blessings at the box office, the film doesn’t have the legs to last a jug (a long period of time) in public memory. It can only evoke a few hearty laughs and spark some animated dinner table discussions.

JugJugg Jeeyo has the aesthetic of a blingy Punjabi wedding. This isn’t a film that will make you gasp with the beauty of its composition and frames. Though early on, Raj creates an interesting contrast between the dazzling colours of Patiala with the greys of Toronto. The vibrancy is literally leached out of Naina and Kukkoo’s partnership. But the candy colours are back as soon as we land in Punjab again.
