On the whole, Dhaakad will meet with a disastrous fate as it offers hardly any entertainment value. Its very desi title hardly goes with the ultra-modern outfits and hairstyles of the lead protagonist whom the title describes. As a result, the title won’t appeal to the urban audience while the heroine’s get-up will not go down well with the audience in smaller centres.

Rating Score -> 3/5
The director, although tries really hard to push the envelope with a woman-led action film, with no romantic interludes to digress into, finishes way short of the finish line. As the co-writer of the film with a heavy Quentin Tarantino hangover, his keener attention to story details could have really elevated the movie. Also, under-utlising actors like Sharib Hashmi and Saswata Chatterjee in bit roles pinches hard. All in all, it would have been great if along with the superb action and terrific visuals, the story, too, could have packed a punch.

Kangana Ranaut, Divya Dutta do the heavy lifting in this slick action film. A slick action film that is also coherent – Kangana Ranaut-Divya Dutta-Arjun Rampal film is an achievement.

At 2 hours 10 minutes, the film looks rather stretched with a flashback sequence that repeats itself more number of times than you would open your mouth to finish that bucket of popcorn while watching it. The screen turns black and white each time they want to show something that happened in the past and that somehow didn't look much out of the place.

Perhaps, the only way to endure Dhakaad is to watch it as a celebration of Kangana’s talent. We always knew that she could emote, but here she shows that she can taste blood as well. The star fires guns and kicks butts with the same amount of conviction she displays while adorning the skimpiest of dresses. The film is one such outfit!

6. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 2/5
Kangana Ranaut ticks off all the boxes of the poker-faced spy model, which means she's either slipping into a series of disguises (a curly haired correspondent with a phony foreign accent, a hijab-wearing tailor in garish prosthetics, a blonde cabaret dancer) or unleashing her fury on the bad guys in the quintessential action heroine uniform -- super tight skinny jeans and tank tops.

Kangana Ranaut in Dhaakad delivers exactly what was promised: a high-octane, high-decibel action thriller. The film doesn’t make you wait: as it is driven by a story that starts off well but gets a bit preposterous along the way.

Rating Score -> 3/5
Kangana Ranaut shines, but the story falls flat. Ranaut is in top form as a super spy in a film that stumbles when it comes to the plot

9. The Week -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Dhaakad is a popcorn film; an almost-edge-of-the-seat action thriller led by an able cast, spectacular action sequences and meticulous execution. The only problem? It is as superficial as it can get. The film makes you feel as if you are passively involved in an overstretched video game that is heading nowhere and gets over before you even begin to make sense of it.

10. Khaleej Times -

Rating Score -> 3/5
For an action thriller centered on an undercover secret agent whose expertise lies in cutting off the soul from the body (Jism se rooh alag karna business hai mera), Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad is surprisingly bereft of much ‘rooh.’ And that’s not for lack of trying.
