Top Bollywood Hits of 2016. Half Yearly Report.

Year 2016 has been strictly average in terms of box office business for Bollywood films. Barely few movies, all others have been flop left and right.

With multiple films releasing every week and 6 months already passed we have only a few handful which can be posted as successful or plus film at box office. In first half of the year only 6 films have emerged as successful or plus film. Recently released Udta Punjab is doing average business right now and may emerge as above average in final verdict. Hence, Udta Punjab is right now not considered in plus zone.

First half of 2016 saw only two films entering into 100 crore club. Co-incidentally both films starred Akshay Kumar in lead roles. He has been big saviour for box office, otherwise it is extremely dull period for exhibitors and distributors. Biggest Hit and also grosser of the year is Airlift which managed excellent trending throughout its theatrical run. Biggest surprise of the year is Neerja which has exceeded all trade expectation and emerged as Super Hit.

Hope second half of 2016 becomes fruitful for Bollywood. Many biggies are lined up starting with Sultan, which may emerge as movie of the year. So, let's be positive and hope that we see more 100 crore, 200 crore or even 300 crore film is later half of the year.
