Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Mixed

1. India TV -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Shehzada has an abundance of action, drama, and romance. It can be perfectly called a family entertainer. Kartik Aryan rocks from the first scene to the last scene, The actor is showing improvement in his performances with each new film.

2. India Herald -

Rating Score -> n/a
Rohit and Kartik stir up a whirlwind of wonderful froth in this old-world setting. Wholesome entertainment designed to lift our spirits with a whoosh of hilarity.

3. Komal Nahta -

Rating Score -> n/a
Shehzada is a dull fare with glaring defects in the screenplay. It will get the audience’s thumbs down.

4. Bollywood Hungama -

Rating Score -> 4/5
SHEHZADA is a family mass entertainer and impresses due to the funny and emotional moments, action scenes, and Kartik Aaryan's superlative performance.

5. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 0.5/5
It should be a crime to make such films in 21st century. Only Manisha Koirala and Ronit Roy come out of this Kartik Aaryan starrer with some dignity intact. That’s more than can be said about the audience.

6. DNA -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Shehzada is a wasted opportunity. It does injustice to its star – an actor who is liked by the masses and has shown that he has what it takes to deliver hits even in this climate. It is also unjust towards the audience, who have time and again told makers that they want to be entertained with quality content and newer things, neither of which Shehzada gives them.

7. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 2/5
In Shehzada, Kartik Aaryan tries to recreate Allu Arjun's crowd-pleasing antics but not from scratch. Every slo-mo flip, dance move and punchline owes all its swagger to the 'Stylish Star' that might please his fans but lacks selfhood.

8. NDTV -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Shehzada is fusty but fun. Take Kartik Aaryan out of it, there might not be much left in the film. If nothing else, Shehzada goes to show that the star now has the ability to power an entire film without having to fall back on an exceptionally brilliant Tabu as he had to in his previous hit, Bhool Bhulaiya 2.

9. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Shehzada is meant to be enjoyed for its campy humour, irreverent hero, and action sequences. If watching a mass entertainer with a gang of friends is your jam, you could make a trip to the theatre for this one.

10. Hindustan Times -

Rating Score -> n/a
Shehzada, with its over-the-top production design, and catchy musical numbers by Pritam, is far too loud to leave an impact. At 145 minutes, it isn't exactly boring, but it does lag as it drags out the parentage issue.

11. India Today -

Rating Score -> 2/5
After the Shahenshah and Badshah, fans had been hoping for the Shehzada of Bollywood to arrive. But while the film is out, we wonder if Kartik Aaryan can be called Shehzada yet. Moreover, we wonder if he would want to remember the film in the long run of his career.

12. News 18 -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Shehzada is mostly a frame-by-frame copy, with minor changes here and there. Kartik and Kriti Sanon’s professions have changed, there’s probably fewer songs than the original, and the editing is tighter, giving it a faster pace.

13. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a
Kartik Aaryan can’t salvage this prince of pointless banter. A good masala recipe turns bland in the hands of director Rohit Dhawan’s Shehzada, becoming the wrong vehicle to launch Kartik Aaryan into the universe of a mass entertainer.

14. Mid-Day -

Rating Score -> 2/5
A princely disappointment. Where movies like the Drishyam franchise, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Hera Pheri managed to capture viewers’ attention, director Rohit Dhawan fails to impress with Shehzada.
