Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Mixed to Positive

1. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 4/5
Anubhuti Kashyap’s first mainstream film boasts of her ability to bring out a host of nuanced performances. She shows her potential to direct a story in a manner that can thoroughly engross the audience, while also taking it in a direction that makes it a conversation-starter for the right reasons. Every character in Doctor G, performs their part finely to pump life into the story. Go, watch this at a theatre near you, sehat ki liye achcha hai!

2. Hindustan Times -

Rating Score -> n/a
Doctor G could have been a much better movie. But looking at the first half, one realises it could have been much worse as well. In the end, it’s a middling coming-of-age social drama that will find its audience. It manages to stay non-preachy and even though it attempts to give clean humour, does get cringey in parts. What saves it are the actors, who breathe new life into a tired script. Go watch it for them, if nothing else!

3. News 18 -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Watch this film if you want to take a break from the actioners and mystery-thrillers that are gracing the big screen every other Friday of late. Despite its run-of-the-mill template, Doctor G manages to offer a kind of novelty and brings us back the Ayushmann Khurrana we have been yearning for.

#DoctorG: DECENT. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ Interesting premise, engrossing drama [second half keeps you hooked], neat performances [#AyushmannKhurrana, #ShefaliShah] are a big plus... Patchy first half [humour falls flat] and forgettable music are downers. #DoctorGReview

5. Indian Express -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet film is just serviceable. Ayushmann Khurrana film is so busy earning its feminist cred that it forgets the show-more-than-tell dictum, and never becomes the cracker it could have been.

6. India Today -

Rating Score -> 2/5
Ayushmann needs to step up his game and look for better roles. You can watch Doctor G just for its comedy. Before leaving, the film leaves us with one question - men dominate most departments of medicine, so, what's the problem if women lord over gynaecology?

7. NDTV -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Ayushmann Khurrana delivers a sparkling performance that is marked by restraint but he never lets the spotlight drift away from him. Not an easy feat that given the fact that the cast includes Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha.

8. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Doctor G is a frothy first film. It's feel-good yet says a lot of significance in a succinct manner, proving Anubhuti Kashyap knows both her craft and feminism.

9. Komal Nahta -

Rating Score -> n/a
Doctor G is a good, class-appealing entertainer. It deserves to do well but having said that, it must be added that poor promotion will come in the way of the film realising its full potential. Many among the public do not know about the film’s release and several among them are not even aware of the film’s existence.

10. Deccan Herald -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
As a doctor trying to lose his male touch while handling pregnancy cases, Khuranna is natural. But overall, he looks jaded, giving the obvious indication of an actor in need of an image makeover.

11. The Week -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Doctor G is a fun film, with the right amount of humour infused at the right places. Yet, there are times when the screenplay does test one's patience, especially during the times when the protagonist is made to introspect, reflect and turn unnecessary self-deprecatory.

12. The Hindu -

Rating Score -> n/a
In a kind of spiritual successor to Vicky (Vicky Donor) and Manu (Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui), Ayushmann plays yet another immensely-relatable, flawed character who doesn’t easily come-of-age. Of course, it has become formulaic, but his charm as a fallible guy-next-door is yet to wane.

13. Indiadotcom -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Doctor G is a one-time watch movie for all the Ayushmann Khurrana lovers. He is back into his zone of being the desi boy trying to build his quirky and unique identity. P.S. I personally missed Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta in the film. Them and Ayushmann make for the most awesome trio ever.
