Gangubai Kathiawadi has taken a decent opening on the first day (Friday) at the box office as early samples for the morning shows are coming in. We can say the start is even good considering the film is releasing post third wave of coronavirus and there is 50% occupancy cap in various places also.
Gangubai has opened to 20% occupancy in the morning shows today. The start is better in the Maharastra belt. The opening is average in the rest of India. But there is scope for growth through the day hence, the film can grow in other places also.
Gangubai is released in 3000 screens approx India. Even a decent occupancy will take the film's first day total to a respectable zone. Gangubai is not just an Alia Bhatt starrer film. It is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is one of the reputed names in Bollywood. He is also a big crowd puller.
A 7-8 crore net will be decent to a good start for the film. If the film touches or even goes close to a double-digit mark then it will be a pretty good start considering the film will have the potential to register growth on Saturday and Sunday. Anything below 7 crore net will be a disappointment for the film.
So far the start is decent and we hope that film registers better occupancy as the weekend is approaching. Critic reviews are awaited and the audience's word of mouth will be known by the end of the day.
