Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Mixed!

Rating Score -> 3/5
By crediting the story as being based on an actual person’s life, the makers may be trying to wash their hands off the one-dimensional portrayal of a man’s blood-soaked tale of one-sided passion. But what works for Tadap are earnest performances all around, especially from the lead stars and some great dialogues. If only they could have been more generous with the female character.

Rating Score -> 3/5
To sum it up, while Tadap unabashedly plays to the gallery with action, music, and well-shot visuals, it would have helped a great deal if its screenplay had created some more room for the actors to drive home a more memorable love story.

Ahan Shetty makes a superb debut in a role which is very difficult for a newcomer. He looks good, has a wonderful physique and screen presence, and is easy in front of the camera. He is very agile in action scenes and also dances gracefully. Tara Sutaria looks gramorous and acts wonderfully and in a natural style. On the whole, Tadap is a hit fare. Its music will soar even more post-release, on the popularity charts.

Despite hewing closely to the original, the film doesn’t find its footing. Perhaps because it places too much of a burden on its leads – Ahan and Tara Sutaria. Ahan has a solid screen presence. He pulls off the action with ease. Tara looks lovely. But the characters in Tadap have dual personalities. The scenes in the film, especially during the climax, needed actors capable of much more expression and precision.

Rating Score -> 1.5/5
After spending one long night together, one of the lovers says to the other: "Raat gayi par yaad nahi jayegi (the night is over but the memories will last), it was very special." Nurture no such hopes from Tadap. There is nothing special in the film. It is as stale and forgettable as they come.

A true-blue commercial potboiler and having no qualms about it, Tadap, to a large extent, satisfies the cinema goer inside you and at the same time, leaves you asking for more. With convincing performances, bearable storyline and most importantly a promising debut by Ahan, it's surely worth a watch.

Rating Score -> 1/5
Ahan Shetty’s mothballed romance is buried under tiresome 80s cliches. That Ahan Shetty, son of Suniel, has been readied for the movies is in no doubt from the beginning -- we see a bare, muscular back, a revving motorcycle and a brooding, intense look.

Rating Score -> 3/5
This week's big Bollywood release Tadap is an action-packed romantic drama that caters to the 'Gen Y' audience and proves to be a good launch vehicle for actor Suniel Shetty's son Ahan. The film, a remake of the Telugu blockbuster RX 100, revolves around the life of a simpleton named Ishana, who lives happily with his 'daddy' and hangs out with his friend 'Lol'. His world is turned upside down when he falls for a local politician's daughter.

Rating Score -> 3/5
Except for the song Tumse Bhi Zyada, the soundtrack of Tadap isn't interesting as such. Overall, Tadap could've been packaged well by chopping off certain scenes which look forced in the movie. On the whole, Tadap is a film that is sure to resonate with young audiences.

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
'Tadap' is rich material for its talented actors. It is a simple, emotion-packed unrequited love story inspired by a true incident that occurred a few years ago. But Director Milan Luthria unravels the tale in the most convoluted and tedious manner.

12. News 18 -

Rating Score -> n/a
A remake of 2018 Telugu film RX 100, Tadap is purposefully loud masala. As a filmmaker, Luthria fails on many counts. The screechy pitch is accentuated by ear-shattering background music. This love story set against a hill station backdrop has no room for subtlety, irony or even a quiet moment. The fights are unexciting. The cinematography is dull and the songs which don’t have a recall value seem to be forced in the narrative.
