Satyameva Jayate 2 had a shocking start at the box office on 1st Thursday. Shocking because the film failed to generate a good start on single screens. Yes, the film is set to take a low start in multiplexes and that is taken. But a slow start in SS is not for the taken. It has sent shockwaves across the film industry. This is, even more, considering the last release Sooryavanshi has emerged as a Hit and the post-pandemic scare is at an all-time low now.
Satyameva Jayate 2 has collected 3-3.25 crore net approx on day one. This is much less than our early estimates mentioned yesterday. It is because actuals are much low on single screens than the expected level. Still, datas are pouring in and the final count may vary a little.
Satyameva Jayate 2 has registered an all-India occupancy of 10-12% on average for the day. This is shockingly low. The first installment of the film was such a huge success and if this second installment fails to gather momentum in the coming days then it might end up as a big flop.
Again there is Antim releasing on Friday and that will eat some business into SMJ2. But again SMJ2 is performing at such a lower level that whatever screens it has got may shift to Antim or even Sooryavanshi. Poor start for SMJ2 has given Sooryavanshi a lifeline and that film may now charge towards the 200 crore mark.
