With every passing year, ticket price increases and thus net business also increases. Plus, there is tax reduction in 2018 because of GST and due to this, there is a further increase in the net business. Hence, to compare a film from a particular year to some other year it is getting a bit difficult. Here comes the footfall scenario.

Footfall is nothing but the headcount of people watching films in theatres. Footfall gives us an idea of how the film did at the box office at its time of release.

Just, for example, Gadar registered 5 crores plus footfall and did 76 crore net business in India in the year 2001. With nearly the same footfall Baahubali 2 did 500 crore plus net business in year 2017.

Also, another factor is the Average Ticket Price (ATP). War did more than business than Kabir Singh but Kabir Singh's footfall is higher as ATP of that film was much lower than War. Both films released last year (2019).

KGF 2 (Hindi only) is the latest entrant in the 2 crore footfall club and it was released in April 2022.

Films that have registered 3 crores footfalls (since 2000) - 10

Films that have registered 2 crores footfalls (since 2000) - 31

  5. These small stars like akshay Kumar, Vicky kaushal, Ayushmann khurana, kartik Aryan, Rajkumar rao and Sushant Singh rajput are not nothing more than script stars. Their movies will work when the content is good and if content is bad then it will bite the dust. For example - Bhoot haunted ship, Shubh Mangal zyaada saavdhan, Love Aaj kal. Only Salman Khan and Aamir kHan are the biggest megastar of Bollywood and Indian cinema

  13. I think Dangal has around 3.9-4 cr footfalls including its dubbed versions as the tax were also more in those times on dubbed movies down south. Similarly, the footfalls of Dhoom 3 all versions will be around 3.1-3.2 crores. Please update.
