Chhapaak had a below-average first week at the box office. The film did enjoy a mini-holiday period on weekdays otherwise collection would have been further low. The main issue is that the film started low on Friday morning despite getting a good screen count. It then remained flat till Sunday.
Chhapaak has collected 28.35 crore net in the first week. It has managed to retain 45-50% screens for the second week. Screen count is still good but again will it convert into box office numbers? There is a possibility that film might wrap up its lifetime business in around 40 crore net mark or maybe below also.
A film like Chhapaak with leading star Deepika Padukone should have collected in excess of 50 crore net in India. Ideally, it should have done a business of 60-70 crore net if not more. The film will stay much below that number now.
