Dabangg 3 and Good Newwz Screen Count Allocation

Dabangg 3 and Good Newwz are the big releases of the month. Both these films will release in a week's apart and both will enjoy Christmas and New Year Festive time period.

As both these big films are releasing one week apart, how will be the screenings for each of the films especially on 27th December 2019? Before that let's talk about the 20 December screen count for Dabangg 3.

The way things are going at the moment Dabangg 3 might sneak past Thugs of Hindostan screen count record 5000-5050. Yes, that's true. Dabangg 3 is certain to get 4500 plus screen count. Screen booking trend till the last report suggests, the film is on track to release in 5000 plus screens. This will be a new record. 

As Dabangg 3 will enjoy the solo run for a week and is already will be released in record screens, there is a large section of the audience who will watch the film in the first week itself. Hence, even if Dabangg 3 gets say 1500-2000 screens in week two it may not be an issue. That is much enough screens to rock box office again in the New Year weekend. 

However, if Dabangg 3 gets good word of mouth then it may get 2500 screens also for week 2. If that happens it will definitely have an impact on Good Newwz. And if Dabangg 3 word of mouth is bad then the film might get only 1000 screens for week 2. The good news for Dabangg 3 is that many single screens have accepted two weeks running of the film and hence it should rock big in SS for sure.

Now coming to Good Newwz which will release on 27 December 2019. The film is certain to get at least 2500 screens for the first Friday. In fact, the trend suggests 3000-3500 screens should be allocated for the film. The only issue is Dabangg 3 and if that film creates history at the box office, then Good Newwz screening may come below 3000 screens. And if Dabangg 3 falls flat in the first week then Good Newwz screens may go close to 4000 also and may also touch it.

Ideally, Good Newwz needs 3500 screens to rock big. The film may get 80-90% of those screens even clashing with Dabangg 3. Hence, there is no issue regarding the film screening. Plus, when it will release, Dabangg 3 will be one week old and many would have watched that film and hence, Good Newwz will get first priority. However, if Good Newwz turns out bad then the benefit may pass on to Dabangg 3 in the next week. But again all depends on the content.

Whatever happens, we are expecting firework this Christmas. It is balle balle time for exhibitors as two big films are releasing in 7 days apart. It is also balle balle time for audiences as they will have choices this Christmas and New Year time.
