1. Times of India -
Rating Score -> 2.0/5
From exciting car chases to high-octane destruction scenes, from African lions to an entire act involving industrial strength glue – all shot beautifully in the picturesque UK. But nothing sticks, thanks to a weak script. There are far too many songs placed randomly that only add to the runtime. Towards the end, it even meanders into a patriotic subplot that seems more forced. Even with an enviable starcast and heavy-duty action, Pagalpanti never really manages to pull off more than a few laughs.
2. Khaleej Times -
Rating Score -> 2.5/5
But if you are a fan of Anees Bazmee's brand of comedy, and enjoy physical humour, you will no doubt have a riot at the cinemas. Pagalpanti, as the makers promise, is a movie that can be enjoyed by the whole family, since the comedy for the better part is clean. Just don't expect the laughs to last long.

4. The Hindu -
Rating Score -> n/a
Click this link for detailsEvery single actor seems to be overly conscious of the fact that she/he is in a comedy so they have to make people laugh somehow. The desperation shows on some and the other seasoned ones like Anil Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla look disinterested and mechanical. The only one who manages to hold interest to an extent is Inaamulhaq, but, like the film and everything else about it, even he and his character overstay the welcome.

Click this link for detailsPagalpanti appears to be a collection of improvised scenes rather than a film made from a real script. The performances are wooden, dialogues stilted and regressive, and the story – well, there isn’t one. This one is best avoided.
6. Rediff -
Rating Score -> 1/5
Click this link for detailsWith no wit to spout and quirk to display, the always-to-emerge-unscathed Anil Kapoor goes through the motions behind tinted sunglasses, happy to loaf about in posh London homes in flamboyant silks and fur. Often though, he keeps referring to his old movies. Who wouldn't if they had to share the frame with a CGI animal for the second time in one year?
7. Zoom -
Rating Score -> 2/5
Click this link for detailsPagalpanti is more bland and loud than it's funny. While the star cast tries its best, the movie, as a whole, fails to keep it together.
8. Mid-day -
Rating Score -> 1.5/5
Click this link for detailsThe problem with today's comedies is that they think they can get away with cast and canvas, and making poker faces on posters would led to the belief that they have made an entertaining film for families. Actors participating in such comedies usually say in interviews and write on social media how their films are not for critics and request the audiences to leave their brains at home. I did exactly that, didn't apply any logic or brain, all I desired was laughter... where's that? Whom should I talk to now?
9. Latestly -
Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Click this link for detailsPagalpanti works when it embraces its silly, madcap premise whole-heartedly to generate some good moments of situational humour, and the cast blending well with the inanity. But the second half is a letdown, with stretched-out gags and some bad editing choices. Near the end, when Pagalpanti tries to stoke our patriotic sentiments by playing "Dil Diya Hai, Jaan Bhi Denge", you regret not leaving your brains at home. That's what you call a Dimaag Ki Dahi moment!
10. Mumbai Mirror -
Rating Score -> 1.5/5
Click this link for detailsApart from a man sticking a banana to another’s temple in an attempt to fleece him, there’s little to inspire your lips to curl upwards. What’s worse, this 165-minute debacle is a never-ending affair, with more dance numbers than you can care and unnecessary plot deviations to introduce additional characters into the fold. Much like the graphic PSAs warning us about the consumption of tobacco, this film needs to be flagged as injurious to the brain.
11. Anupama Chopra -

Click this link for detailsPagalpanti is so soul-sucking and brain-dead that it makes Bazmee’s last film Mubarakan look like high art. John said in an interview that they made this film to spread happiness but I came out depressed. In a few weeks, we will be entering a new decade. Hindi cinema needs to be better than this.
Even though I don't trust critics, I might be inclined to believe them this time. Watching John's acting is a torture, watching him in a comedy movie would send anyone into a trauma center. The guy cannot act even to save his life. His protege, Ayushmann Khurana is now delivering 100 Cr grossers consistently whereas, John is yet to get a solo 100 Cr grosser of his own. Speaks highly of his "stardom". Anyway, critics are going to have a field day bashing this movie & I am assuming even the public WOM isn't going to be positive either. Watching John do comedy is going to even worse than the sight of Johnny Lever dressed a Giggly in Housefull 4.
