Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Positive!

1. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Yes, the film is jingoistic in parts, but when you are talking about a rebellion that eventually inspired another movement of epic proportions (the Indian Rebellion of 1857), this kind of chest-thumping patriotism doesn't come as a surprise. While the storytelling has its flaws, what needs to be lauded is that the makers pulled out this tale from the pages of history and mounted it on such a massive canvas for us to see.

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Sye Raa has enough strength to start a rebellion even today. It is a tale of how the warrior changed the future with his life and even in death. Overall the film brings life to a love story, which talks about Sye Raa's passion for his nation and the sacrifices he made for his land and his people.

Where Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy actually scores is in the technical departments. The action sequences are brilliantly shot by R Rathnavelu, be it the horse-riding, war sequences or explosions, and are extremely well-choreographed with no major loose ends. The first song’s entire choreography and Tamannaah’s scene in front of the British men was a visual spectacle. The VFX and visual effects are among the best we have seen in the Indian film industry.

All in all, a good film and this film, watch it if you are south Indian film fan and you love Chiranjeevi and also if you are an admirer of too many unexpected twists and turns in the plot.

Chiranjeevi’s massive efforts to make an ‘Avengers’ style pan-India film is surely a great ONE-TIME watch. You might end up cursing the enormous 171-minute run-time when you come out, but you’ll be left satisfied with what you’ve witnessed inside. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself sitting in the audience amidst frantic whistles, loud cheers, and ecstatic hoots in pretty much every second scene in the second half. I am going with three and a half stars.

6. Mirchi9 -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Overall, Sye Raa delivers a lavish, made-for-big-screen patriotic mass entertainer. There are the occasional dull moments and a few action parts that drift apart, but the climax and the visuals make up for it. Sye Raa is a must-watch big-scale epic tale that gets most of the rights, and that warrants an easy one time watch.

7. Rediff -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
The film has a great ensemble cast and everyone’s performance is top notch. But the film rests on Chiranjeevi’s shoulders, and he's fantastic! He delivers the punchlines as well as the action sequences. Amitabh Bachchan has a cameo but it's a prominent one. His dialogues leave an impact and his delivery is on point.

8. Zoom -

Rating Score -> 3/5
But it's one action sequence towards the end of the film that tells you loud and clear that no one could have done justice to tell this brave tale of Narasimha Reddy other than the megastar himself. The background score, crisp script and effective screenplay of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy make for an intense, entertaining film that you definitely ought to watch. And don't be surprised if you find yourself amidst whistles, cheers, and hoots every once in a while.

9. India Today -

Rating Score -> 3/5
While retelling the story of Narasimha Reddy, he is shown as the epitome of righteousness. The only flaw is the trust he has in people. The cinematic liberties that the makers have taken are a bit dramatic, especially the climax scene.

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
SYE RAA NARASIMHA REDDY is an ambitious movie with great scale but less study. The inspiring sweep is missing and the climax is stretched far to please Chiranjeevi fans.However the action, sets costumes and of course Chiranjeevi makes this watchable.

11. Mumbai Mirror -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
All of 64, veteran actor Chiranjeevi packs quite a punch as the warrior king. If only his character wasn’t infused with such exaggerated valour and unflinching jingoism, it could’ve been a more convincing, if not effective portrayal. The fight sequences here are choreographed like the intro sequences of violent video games, with moves that seem to defy gravity, physics and better sense.

On the whole, Syeraa Narasimha Reddy is a fair entertainer, its patriotic fervour, action scenes and Chiranjeevi being its biggest plus points. Although the dubbed Hindi version will do fair business, the original Telugu version has the trappings of a hit film.

13. Sify -

Rating Score -> 3.25/5
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy's biggest strength is Chiranjeevi, his powerful body language and dialogue delivery (Tamil voice by Arvind Swamy) have given life to the unsung hero. The Megastar single-handedly owns the film and takes it to the winning post. Overall, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is an engaging watch except for the long climax. Chiranjeevi keeps you invested in the film even when it plods on for over 171 minutes.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a good watch. Telugu cinema, which was going places after Baahubali, gets still further with this film.

15. The Week -

Rating Score -> 3.5/5
The movie’s biggest strengths are its visuals, especially the war scenes. Roping in of international stunt directors has enhanced the overall experience. Producer and son of Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, has pulled out all stops in marketing the film and it did not go waste. In the end, though the product is worth appreciating, it cannot be called a biopic of Narasimha Reddy as a lot of events in the movie are historically questionable. If you can silence the fact-checker in you, watch the movie for Chiranjeevi and the action sequences.
