Overall Word of Mouth (Critics) - Mixed!

1. Times of India -

Rating Score -> 3/5
Prassthanam manages to hold your interest in parts due to its fast paced developments. But it also suffers from the usual pitfalls like unwanted songs and just too many conflicts, happening all at once. In conclusion, Prassthanam is a tried and tested political potboiler with power, greed and emotions at its core.

Dubey as the destructive son shows potential but even his efforts fail in his stereotypical character arch. ‘Prassthanam’ attempts to recapture the glory of the original 2010 film, but this bid for power is best left to struggle in silence.

3. Latestly -

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Prassthanam has an engaging premise with enough twists and turns and backed by strong performances from the main leads. But the movie is let down by its making and an over-stretched narrative, that restricts Prassthanam to an intermittently intriguing one-time watch.

Dutt has some of the choicest dialogues here. "Jab kaatne ki aukad na ho, bhaukna bhi nahin chahiye" (If you don’t have the gumption to bite, don’t dare to bark). While the actor mumbles them with some dignity, there are some that really test him. When his character is accused of pulling a stunt for seeking ‘sahunubhuti’ (sympathy), he quips, "Let the public decide if this is ‘sahunubhuti’ or ‘shaanpatti’ (deception)." This film evidently needs a bit of both.

Overall, Prassthanam is an engaging and interesting desi Game of Thrones. It's a treat for Sanjay Dutt fans as he delivers a powerful performance joined by Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey. The movie may seem a bit dated in terms of its making but is worth your time and money. Watch it.

Rating Score -> 2.5/5
At two hours and 20 plus minutes, Prassthanam feels stretched. It could have been easily edited by 20 minutes. The climax seems to go on and on. Lack of hard-hitting sequences and a strong message makes the film falter. Still, Prassthanam is worth a one-time watch. Just don't go with high expectations.

Overall, Prassthanam is complicated, much like the equations in the family of the story.  Only hardcore Sanjay Dutt fans or those who love the ‘masala’ genre might still find something to cheer about here.

Watch it for him as well as the nostalgic appeal of seeing the stars of the late 80s and 90s (Koirala, Shroff, Pandey and Dutt). You will get your money’s worth. Recommended!

If guns, gore, murder, and bloodshed are your drug, then ‘Prassthanam’ is your poison. It’s definitely a one-time watch. I’m going with 2.5 stars.
