Ajay Devgn to kick-off Syed Abdul Rahim biopic by June 2019

Ajay Devgn is without a doubt amongst the top rated actors in Bollywood. After he is done with his ambitious project ‘Tanhaji’ he is all set for a sports biopic of  Syed Abdul Rahim who served as India’s football coach from 1950 to 1963.

The film will be helmed by Badhaai Ho fame Amit Sharma. According to Sharma, the team is looking to shoot most parts of the film in actual football stadiums and is considering cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad along with overseas locations too. Also, since the film is set in the Independence era, the team is looking to recreate cities and landscapes to provide a vintage feel by using visual effects.

Now, Sharma admits that the team is looking to hire international footballers and is in search of actors who can play the sport as well.  The team is also in search of a Hollywood sports choreographer for the well management of the cast in terms of understanding the game, developing the skills and keeping the physical health of the actors in check.

Under the leadership of Abdul Rahim, India peaked to wining the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962 and reaching the finals of the 1956 Summer Olympics. He died due to cancer at the age of 53.

The film still to be titled is set to go on floors by June.
