Ajay Devgn starrer Syed Abdul Rahim biopic to kick off in June; team eyeing a 2020 release

We are already informed about Ajay Devgn’s next project after Tanhaji and that is the biopic of Syed Abdul Rahim who served as India’s football coach from 1950 to 1963. Addatoday also recently updated that South actress Keerthy Suresh is playing the leading lady opposite Ajay. 

Now, the recent news that has come in is that the sports biopic is to be on floors by June and aims to wrap up by October. The team is also planning to release the film by 2020. Also, reports are that the shooting will commence both in India and overseas. The Indian cities includes cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow and Kolkata. 

Under the leadership of Syed Abdul, the Indian Football team won gold at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta and took the team to the semifinals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. So, the shooting venues chosen overseas are Jakarta, Rome and Melbourne which will help in maintaining an authenticity throughout the film. 

The technical team is also seeming to be strong one. Laxman Utekar, (director of Luka Chuppi) is to be the director of photography. Rithesh Shah (Pink and Raid fame) will pen the dialogues while Saiwyn Quadras (Mary Kom, Neerja and Parmanu) is the screenplay writer. An international football coach will also be signed in soon so that the game played is portrayed in an authentic manner. 

The film will be directed by Badhaai Ho fame Amit Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor along with Akash Chawla and Arunava Sengupta.
