Deepika Padukone’s film with Meghna Gulzar is titled ‘Chhapaak’ and to roll by March, 2019

Deepika Padukone’s next film with director Meghna Gulzar finally has a name and it is ‘Chhapaak’. The film is scheduled to roll by the third week of March, 2019 and will primarily be shot in Mumbai and Delhi.

The actress along with turning a producer for the film will also play the lead in the film, which is based on the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

Meghna has roped in a North Indian boy, Vikrant Massey whom both she and Deepika is excited to work with.

The filmmaker expresses that she never in her wildest dreams hoped Deepika to play the role of an acid attack survivor. Deepika represents the epitome of beauty and for her to give a nod to such a work is commendable.

Reports are that the team is trying their best to achieve best results for the film and prosthetics tests are underway. There will be different looks in the film because of the several stages of facial reconstruction.

Laxmi, the person on whose life the story is based upon, hails from an underprivileged background. She was only 15 when she was attacked in the year 2005. She was waiting at a bus stop in Delhi when her 32-year-old assailant was an acquaintance of the family who harboured a one-sided attraction towards her.
