Thugs Of Hindostan Advance Booking Started!

Big 'Diwali dhamaka' is coming in 'Thugs of Hindostan' and it is rejoice for all movie lovers that film advances are started today that is exactly 5 days ahead of its release. It is a masterstroke by the makers.

Early start of advance booking ensures that film should take Houseful start on opening day at box office. Film is getting released on 8th of November which is the day after Diwali puja. It is a National holiday and we expect film to shatter all existing previous records.

Trade is quite upbeat that for the very first time we might see 50 crore barrier is breached on a single day. Who will bet against that for opening Thursday. Film is getting released in nearly 5000 screens in India. As M.P. strike is called off, it can go even beyond in final count. Exact screen count will be known closer to the release of the film.

V.P. distribution of YRF, Mr. Rohan Malhotra states -

We will bring to you the detail report on Advance Booking. Film has potential to collect in excess of 60 crore mark with 100% ideal occupancy. That may be highly improbable practically.

Full occupancy has only once ever happened in last decade and that was at the time of release of Ek Tha Tiger, when 95-100% occupancy registered for the whole day. It has never been repeated since. Hence, if we consider say 80% occupancy for Thursday, which is more practical, then it will take TOH past 50 crore mark. Even a 80% start in humongous 5000 screens is not a small thing. But going by the pre-release hype, TOH may achieve that landmark.

Stay tuned for more udpates!

  3. with all due respect to everyone, its incorrect and inaccurate to call day after Diwali as a National Holiday and biggest day for collections, reasons as under:

    1) Diwali is mostly a North Indian festival, its not as big in South or even Maharashtra. Day after Diwali is NOT a holiday for atleast 50% of the offices. All Banks are open, I'm working too and so are many people. An just to clarify I'm in Delhi i.e. North India.

    2) In my opinion, 15th August is the biggest day for film collections as its genuinely a national holiday and that too the biggest of the year.

Yes, day after Diwali is lucrative as families step out to watch movies but to call it the biggest is untrue. Most of the Christmas or Eid movies do not end up releasing on the day of Eid/Christmas which are real holidays per say. However, big Diali releases come on day after Diwali, hence, this misconception.

My estimate is that if a film like TOH came on 15th August, the opening probably would have been around 10% higher. Anyway, really hope that TOH becomes the first ever film to cross the 50 cr mark!!!!

With the screening help by YRF for distributors and going by their response, that certainly looks very much possible!

  4. just to clarify - just commenting on the day after Diwali, not the Diwali period, which is quite lucrative as we all know !! :)
