Manikarnika Teaser Review

The teaser of Manikarnika, staring Kangana Ranaut in the lead is finally out today. Directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish) and produced by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, Manikarnika is releasing on 25th January, 2019.

Here’s a overview of the phenomenal historic warrior, Rani of Jhansi -

Rani Lakshmibai, also known as the Rani of Jhansi was the queen of the princely state of Jhansi in North India, currently falling in Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Manikarnika was married to the Maharaja of Jhansi, Raja Gangadhar Rao Newalkar and was afterwards called Lakshmibai in the honor of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi. She had a baby boy, later named Damodar Rao, who died after four months. The Maharaja adopted a child called Anand Rao, the son of Gangadhar Rao's cousin, who was renamed Damodar Rao, on the day before the Maharaja died.

Among her countless instances of bravery, one is when she jumped with her son who was on her back, on a horse from Jhansi fort. They fortunately survived but the horse didn’t. But Lakshmibai somehow escaped in the night with her son, surrounded by guards.

Tradition narrates that Rani Lakshmibai, was severely wounded in one of the battles against the British Raj. She did not want the British to capture her body and do she allowed a hermit to burn her body. After her death, a few local people cremated her body.

Manikarnika Teaser Review -

The teaser has seemed to meet its expectations so far.  Kangana is looking fierce like a true warrior. We can see a lot of intensity in her eyes in every fighting scene. A sneak peek into her crying scene with her baby boy really portrays good intensity. All the locations and the set do seem to give us a feel of the India’s pre independence period.

Her blood smeared face at the end of the teaser is something that will stay in the viewer’s mind for long!

But, there seem to be only a bit of concern for her voice as Rani Lakshmi Bai.  Some of the audiences don’t seem to be to be comfortable with her voice, especially as he screams in the war scenes. Besides that, we are still waiting for a longer trailer that will give us more taste and insight into the movie.
