After Super Success of 'Stree', Director and Producer plan their next.

After the comedy horror film, ‘Stree’ that is set to emerge as a blockbuster, director Amar Kaushik and its producer Dinesh Vijan adopts a Marathi film.

The film will be official adaptation of Samruoddhi Porey’s “Mala Aai Vhhaychay!” (I Want To Be A Mother!), of 2011. It deals with the controversial issue of surrogacy against the backdrop of the colorful world of a Lavni dancer (a folk dance of Maharashtra) in the interiors of Maharashtra.

“Mala Aai Vhhaychay!” won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2011. The story is behind a Lavni dancer, Yashoda who already decides to give her child to Mary, a foreigner. But, halfway through the pregnancy, both the women come to know that the unborn child will come out deformed. So, knowing this, Mary leaves the baby whom she had decided to own into the hands of the birth giving mother.  After few years returns take the claim of the child from Yashoda.

In the words of Stree producer Dinesh Vijan, who will collaborate again with Amar says, “My writer, Sita Menon, has been adapting the story since the past one year to cater to a wider audience while taking into account new surrogacy laws. Amar is the right guy to direct it. Going by the way he married horror and humour in Stree, I know he will make you smile and tear up with this one,” Dinesh points out. And is the sequel of Stree on course? “Yes, Amar will direct Stree 2 once he’s done with this one,” he concludes.

We can all hope and expect another meaningful and a moving film, as the ‘Stree’.
