Top Bollywood Hits and Flops of 2014

In this article we will concentrate of the Biggest Hits and Flops of 2014. Bollywood has released around 200 films in 2014, out of which only 22 films has shined at box office. Thus, success ratio for the year is as poor as around 11%. 

There have been around 22 plus films in 2014 out of which we have considered the Top 10 which has mint highest revenue for the makers, distributors and exhibitors. Whereas there are Flops galore in 2014 and we have selected the biggest dudes which are just pathetic at ticket counters and completely rejected by audiences.

Top Hits of 2014

10. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania - 77.5 crore nett. Hit. HSKD starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the film. Film did very good business with relatively new stars and nearly touched 80 crore nett in India theatrical. Film made good profits for all associated with it.

9. Holiday - 112.04 crore nett. Hit. Holiday was the only shining point for Akshay Kumar in 2014. Film went onto to cross 100 crore nett at box office and be a Clean Hit. Film in fact trended decently in theaters despite slow start.

8. Bang Bang - 170.7 crore nett. Hit. Bang Bang started with bang in Holiday period, which enable it to become Hit at box office. However film received mixed reviews from audiences and trending was poor after initial days at box office. Overall Bang Bang kept Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif flying high in 2014.

7. Queen - 61.95 crore nett. Super Hit. Queen is easily the biggest surprise Hit of 2014. Film remained rock solid for weeks and superb content ensured that audiences keep coming back to theaters. Kangana Ranaut shot to top league with Queen and has received many accolades from all corners.

6. Ek Villain - 103.8 crore nett. Super Hit. Ek Villain is another big Surprise Hit of 2014. Film ride on good music and initial buzz. Performance of Riteish Deshmukh was well received by audiences. Trending was just ok, and intial days ensured film a big success at box office.

5. 2 States - 104.45 crore nett. Super Hit. 2 States ride on good content, music and youth power and went onto become one of the biggest Hit of 2014. Film also trended well considering a relatively wide release. Also, charming chemistry of Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is liked by audiences and it kept audiences coming back to theaters.

4. Singham Returns - 140.87 crore nett. Super Hit. Singham Returns returned the deadly combination of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty. Film ride on initial euphoria at box office. However just like Bang Bang film fizzled after a strong start. Still good opening ensured film a big success at box office.

3. Happy New Year - 202.6 crore nett. Super Hit. Happy New Year had the biggest ensemble star cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and rest. Film released in festive period and broke all opening records. Thus, it has ensured a big success at box office. Film trending was just ok in theaters and major business is done in initial days.

2. Kick - 230.4 crore nett. Blockbuster. Kick ride on three factors, Salman Khan, good music and entertainment. Film despite having Salman started relatively slowly on day one. But film picked up well with days passing and good trending ensured it to become a monumental Hit at box office. Everyone associated with the film made huge profit from it.

1. PK - 340-350 crore nett [expected]. All Time Blockbuster. PK ride on three big factors, Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani and superb content at disposal. Also, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput had given heart out to their respective roles in the film. Audiences come in numbers to theaters again and again. Film shattered all box office despite a moderate start. Film went onto become the biggest Hit of all time and highest grosser of all time. Film is still running well and looking to end its lifetime in around 340-350 crore nett mark. Yes, PK is the film of the year!

Top Flops of 2014 - There are flops galore in 2014, but we are considering those films which are expected to be a Hit at box office, but failed miserably and entitled big loses to everyone associated with it.

10. The Shaukeens - 29.9 crore nett. Flop. Film is expected to do much better than what it did considering Akshay Kumar had a good extended cameo in the film. But film fizzled at box office.

9. Finding Fanny - 31.12 crore nett. Flop. Film had a good ensemble star cast in Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and others. But film failed to get any foothold in theaters and fizzled away after that.

8. Bewakoofiyaan - 13.85 crore nett. Washout. Film had a decent face value in Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurana, but failed to make any sort of impact at box office.

7. Gulaab Gang - 14.35 crore nett. Washout. Film didn't make any sort of impact at box office and was a washout from day one.

6. Ungli - 19.46 crore nett. Washout. Film was expected to do much better performance at box office then what it did with a good star cast.

5. Shaadi Ke Side Effects - 38.45 crore nett. Flop. Film didn't start well at box office and after that fizzled away as days passed. Film entitled substantial loses.

4. Action Jackson - 57.1 crore nett. Flop. Film just returned a distributor share of 29 crore despite having one of the biggest budget of 2014. Film entitiled big loses to everyone associated with it.

3. Raja Natwarlal - 24.8 crore nett. Disaster. Film had Emraan Hasmi and Paresh Rawal, but even that it could not save itself from being a disaster at box office. Film collected only peanuts at box office.

2. Happy Ending - 20.6 crore nett. Disaster. Film had A list stars of Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D'Cruz, Govinda and rest and it still failed to make any sort of inroads at box office. Film is one of the biggest dudes in recent times. Loses galore.

1. Kill Dil - 32.4 crore nett. Disaster. Film with superb star cast of Ranveer Singh, Govinda, Parineeti Chopra and others disappointed big time at box office. Film failed in all corners and is the biggest dude of 2014. Initially trade expected it to be a 80-100 crore film, but just managed to go over 30 crore nett mark in its lifetime.
