Ek Villain Returns had a decent start to its box office campaign on Friday (1st day). The film did pretty well on Single Screens in mass-dominated centers. Numbers are low in a few of the mass-dominated centers but the overall picture is good.

However, the film fared poorly to a moderate level in all India multiplexes. Occupancy in plexes ranged from 13 to 15%. But in single screens occupancy ranged from 30 to 40% which was pretty good. SS occupancy pushed all India occupancy levels to 20-25%.

Ek Villain Returns collected 7 crore nett for day 1. Numbers are ok and can be touted as good if the film shows some kind of jump on Saturday (day 2). As Ek Villain Returns is targeting youth audiences mainly it may fail to see a big jump on the second day. However, the opening suggests the film can't afford a drop also.

The critic's reviews of the film are extremely mixed. As for the audience's feedback, it is on the mixed to the positive side. This is not a bad sign as audience reviews are the most important. After this start, Ek Villain Returns is eyeing a 25 crore nett opening weekend. If the film manages to get that then it will be a good result and augurs well for the weekdays. Let's see how thing unfolds on Saturday now.
