Padmavati New Release Plans. Eyeing Republic Day 2018 now.

Looks like makers of Padmavati has finally come to a new release strategy. And if all goes according to plan film might get released in January 2018.

New plan is that first Padmavati will be sent to CBFC for certification clearance. Once, film is cleared and Gujarat Elections are completed, then makers will try to put special screening for political leaders and also try to show it to leaders of the group who are wanting a ban on the film. They are certain that once, film screening is done, there should be no such issue of ban.

Once, everything fall in place, film will get released in January 2018. Generally, 2nd and 3rd week of January is touted as doom as footfall are registered in lower numbers in theaters. Padmavati being a high budgeted film, logic says makers will avoid these release dates.

Hence, makers will ideally aiming for 19th January release which is one week prior to Republic Day. In ideal case scenario, makers will try for Republic Day and if they gets necessary screens then film may even get Republic Day release.

However, if any further delay happens, then film will aim for February 2018 release. That is kept as last option.

Now concern is on Republic Day there are two releases are already planned and that is PadMan (Akshay Kumar) and Aiyaary (Sidharth Malhotra). If Padmavati manages 3000+ screens, then what will happen to the other films. Anything less than 3000 screen release for Padmavati will be suicidal because of the costing of the film. Moreover film buzz is all time high and sky is the limit for the film. Hence, makers will want to release it in as many as screens possible across India.

Padmavati will easily cross 200cr but if you release in January then it will not recover budget

So in my opinion 15 dec is d right date to release.

  6. Dec not possible cz of Gujrat elections till 18th. after dat TZH on 22nd.. And clash will b suicidal. Cz both r big budgets movies. No 1 will get enough screen space. So whole January z gr8 fO release. In my opinion 12th Jan z best fO it. They can get 2 weeks free run before 26th Jan.

  9. Sanjay Leela Bhansali probably knew long ago (from his BJP friends) that the film will not release as scheduled because BJP wanted to milk the controversy for electoral gains. In the meanwhile the film has got tremendous publicity via free prime time coverage. So this is a mutually acceptable arrangement between BJP and SLB. After Gujarat elections watch how the BJP and its fringe supporters magically drop their objections to the film, after some phony "mediation", "dialogue", etc. with SLB (and probably a payoff by SLB to the fringe / BJP, as reward for their efforts to publicize the film).

    1. Koi b prodxn team ye Ni chahegi k unki film postponed ho. Ya release se pehle hi itna zyada criticize ho. Me b yhi sochta tha k ye in dono(SLB N BJP) ki mili bhagat h. Pr postponement k bad I believe k film k sth bura ho rha. They were planning to biggest indian release ever for dis now they olrdy lose 30-40 CR cz of postponement...
