2017 the year so far. Jolly LLB 2 and BKD Shines. Rangoon falters badly.

2017 has been a disappointing year so far if we exclude Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Jolly LLB 2 from the list. Already 80 days are past and we have just two clean Hits in hand. Many big releases came, most of them under performed. Small releases just went unnoticed. Story is even sad in single screens and there is literally no footfalls seen in recent releases except BKD to some extent.

Main reason for such sorry state of affairs at box office goes to the content of the film. Few pseudo-intellectual film makers seat in their AC room and makes film for only selected audiences which hardly throng to theaters. They refrain from making films which connects to heartland of India. Two biggest Hits in recent times, Dangal and Sultan, which are great in content, had a great grassroot connectivity with mainland India and hence, went onto become such monumental hits.

Hope sooner than later, makers realises this shortfall in their creativity, otherwise situation may go even worse. Crores of money are getting wasted. Recent best example is Rangoon which is totally an alien story to Indian audiences and hence despite having stellar star cast and decent content, failed to attract audiences to the theaters and went to become one of the biggest disasters in recent time in History of India.

  1. Finally people are recognising where lies the hiccup. These days every film or so bfore even the script is ready they have already pick western country where it will be shot. Growing up indian films were loved in my country for many reasons coz it unadultery content and family oriented Insights which every cultuur can connect with. But nowadays the makers have totally lost it. In the 90s bollywood gave us Sooraj bhajatya Aditya chopra and karan Johar now we get fahan aktar type cinema.sorry state

  2. I think you missed kaabil. Your articles stated that it's a clean HIT..For a film with budget of 50 Cr , sold at 40 Cr to distribution and collecting above 100Cr nett in india, is definitely a clean Hit or more.
