SIDE NOTES

- There are debates on the highest grossers of the year for 1979 (Suhaag, Mr. Natwarlal, Sargam), 1982 (between Prem Rog, Namak Halaal, and Vidhaata), 1984 (Tohfa, Shaarabi), and 1986 (Karma, Nagina)

- If including special appearances, Salman Khan is the clear winner and the King of this aspect

- Only Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan achieved the hat-trick award as for Bachchan (1977-79) and Salman (2010-12)

- Salman Khan can increase his number as he is clearly the #1 star right now, and Sultan is a big contender to be the top grosser of the year 2016.

- No one is even close to Salman Khan, only Aamir Khan as he currently stands with 6 top grossers.

- Superstars like Guru Dutt, Mithun, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor haven’t had a top grosser of the year
