Dilwale is the big release today starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. It is easily one of the biggest release of the year and definitely the last biggie of the year 2015. Dilwale is directed by Rohit Shetty. Rohit is teaming up with SRK after the super success of Chennai Express and expectation is again humongous from this combo. So, will Dilwale end the year on a high. Let's do the movie review of Dilwale in style.
Story - Story of Dilwale is very simple. Kaali/Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) was a don in past who is a changed man now and modifies car in Goa. He has a younger brother in Veer (Varun Dhawan) who is very dear to him. Veer falls in love with Ishita (Kriti Sanon) in first meeting itself. Ishita has a elder sister Meera (Kajol) who co-incidentally was in love with Kaali in Bulgaria in past, but due to circumstances then have to get separated from each other. Now again when Kaali and Meera meets after 15 years, what happens next is the rest of story. Will Raj and Meera will give clearance to Veer-Ishita love story? What about their own story from past in Bulgaria? For all these one have to watch Dilwale in theaters.
Dilwale starts with bang from first scene itself. Film is fast paced and story moves like a rocket. There are loads of funny light heart moments in the film which is synonymous with Rohit Shety films. Second half is also in fast paced with few heart touching emotional scenes. Climax of the film is excellent and fun filled with a typical Rohit Shetty ending.
Songs - Manma Emotion and Janam Janam are good. Rest of the songs are strictly ok, but gels well with the situation. Gerua is very well picturised.
Dilwale story is the weak link although it has lots of twist and turn. There are many scenes which are absolute convenient. In many scenes one has to keep their brains at home. Anyways film is full on masala entertainer. Dilwale rides simply on Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment. If you have liked previous Rohit Shetty films like Golmaal series, All The Best and Chennai Express, then Dilwale is the film for you. Yes, Singham series is also well immensely liked by audiences but it was more on serious genre if we compare all Rohit Shetty films. Dilwale belongs more to Golmaal style.
As far as direction of Rohit Shetty is concerned he is in complete command once again. Again he shows what a fine director today he is. He is definitely the 'King' of Masala films. There is no second doubt on that.
Performances - Shah Rukh Khan is absolute lethal in role of Kaali. He is sweet, loving and caring in the role of Raj. He will smile you and of course make you cry all over again. SRK has delivered a polished, colorful and to the core performance in Dilwale. One will again fall in love with Raj Dilwale. Kajol is simply magical again. She brings A rated performance to her role as Meera. No doubt she is the best among the lot. Yes, she is looking fab in the film. As far as chemistry between SRK and Kajol is concerned, it is delight for audiences. They are back after MNIK and how. Both looks magical together on screen again and it is treat for viewers.
Varun Dhawan is the new age heartthrob and he is a superstar in making. He has delivered his best in Dilwale and also gets ample screen space in the film to showcase his talent. No doubt Dilwale is the biggest film of his till date. This boy will go miles in Bollywood. Kriti Sanon looks beautiful and complements Varun well in the film. She also gets good screen time and does give a first rated performance. Just being a single film old Kriti matches shoulder to shoulder with the veterans in the film. Kudos to her that she has stood her own even after pitted against stalwarts like SRK and Kajol.
Varun Sharma and Johnny Lever both are hilarious and gets good screen time in the film. Rest of the cast are either good or wasted in smaller roles.
Verdict - Dilwale is a typical Rohit Shetty film all the way. Film is a full on Paisa Wasool Entertainer. It is definitely not a cult or classic. But it will definitely make you smile a lot and of course make you cry a bit. Overall Dilwale is entertaining and Rohit Shetty knows what is the need of the hour. Even if few minuscule critics might dislike the film, still audiences will embrace Dilwale with both arms. Film is a jackpot at box office and there is no doubt that Dilwale will zoom past 200 crores despite there being a big clash with Bajirao Mastani. BLOCKBUSTER all the way!
Rating - 3.5/5. Yes, Rohit Shetty the 'Hit' Machine continues with his form. And SRK-Rohit is a lethal combination in todays time. Dilwale is an unlimited, unadulterated fun entertainer which will end 2015 with a bang! Go and watch it in theaters with you whole family!
