Bajrangi Bhaijaan has recorded historic footfalls in cinema halls and as per trade estimates has touched 3.5 crore. Thus, it equals PK footfall and film is still running and will definitely edge past it. This is historic as many thought around 7-8 months back when PK touched unimaginable numbers that no film will challenge PK at least in few years. But Bajrangi Bhaijaan has proved all wrong. In fact the Average Ticket Price of BB is lower than PK and hence, it has falls short of PK lifetime business in India. That also mainly due to the fact that Bajrangi has recorded better footfalls than PK in single screens, whereas PK edge past BB is multiplexes. Single screen ticket prices are generally lower than multiplexes and hence that's the issue.
Bajrangi has also thus gone past footfall of big recent films like 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3 with elan. In fact we have to go back to year 2001 when Gadar registered better Footfall than Bajrangi. Coming to all time footfall it is all relative with ticket prices. However there is no doubt that still Sholay (1975) and Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) holds the highest footfall records of all time. We hope that soon we will have a day when we can proudly say that a film has challenged this legendary epic films at box office. We wait for that.
