Yesterday with much fanfare YRF announced their next biggie with Salman Khan titled 'Sultan' to be released on EID 2016. With this news there are lot of speculation among trade and movie goers about the blockbuster possible clash of 'Raees' starring Shah Rukh Khan and 'Sultan' starring Salman Khan on EID 2016. If this ever happens than it will definitely be one of the biggest clash in history of Bollywood. However chances are slim though.
Let's start from beginning. Few months back when YRF approached Salman for 'Sultan' there was murmur that film will come on EID 2016. In fact it goes year back when Salman himself committed about doing Aditya Chopra production venture in a press conference at the time of Kick release. But after that there are no news coming about the film. In the meantime few months back Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed their film Raees releasing on EID 2016. In fact last night he tweeted about new release date of Raees.
Speculation on #Raees release date! It all ends this Eid.. Chalo time for me to take a dip in the warm waters of #tenerife— Ritesh Sidhwani (@ritesh_sid) June 23, 2015
Now with YRF yesterday also confirming their next biggie with Salman to release on EID 2016, we may be heading for inevitable clash now. However there may be some official announcement from the side of Excel announcing new release date for Raees. That's very much possible within few days.
As if now both films are coming on EID 2016. Whether they will release on same date or not it is not confirmed right now. However it is still one year of time left for that and anything can happen till then. Few things are sure as if now. This clash is definitely not wanted by SRK and Salman looking at their present equation. They are mature enough to avoid each other at box office and that is 100% confirmed. This might be touted as clash with two big production venture that is YRF and Excel. No doubt if both film comes on same date then it will be goldmine for exhibitors. But hope that sanity prevail and one of them back of to some next feasible date. Reason, if clash happens exhibitors will like, audiences will like, but both films certain to have small to big loses as far as business is concerned.
