Roy has managed to get wide screen release in theaters this Friday much ahead of controversial MSG - The Messenger and Baby. Baby although is into 4th week and hence, its screen are reduced big time.
Roy is opening in around 2500-2600 screens across India which is very good number considering film face value. Although there is Ranbir Kapoor playing the title role in the film and having a dynamic part in the film, still it is more portrayed as Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez film. Still there is no release of Ranbir in cinemas for a long time and hence, exhibitors are ensuring that they should give ample screen space as fans of Ranbir might throng to theaters this Valentine. Whether it will happen or not only time will tell.
As far as MSG - The Messenger is concerned film is getting good release of around 800-900 screens all across India. In fact in places like Haryana, Punjab, Delhi film is releasing big. What's more it is ensuring huge advance booking and even bulk booking for the first week at places. That is more to do with Dera Sacha Sauda followers who will throng to theaters to see their leader performing in big screen. However buzz is not that great for rest of India. But bulk booking at places will ensure big opening for the film.
Baby has surprisingly again retained good screen count of around 400-450 in its 4th week. Film is into 4th week and now is aiming to reach 100 at box office. Still film has enough potential to do significant business, but Roy impact will definitely have a affect in its business in coming days.
Screen Count as on 13 February, 2015 -
Roy - 2500-2600
MSG - The Messenger - 800-900
Baby - 450
