PK Thursday (7th Day) Collection Update. Rocking on Christmas Holiday

PK is rocking big time on Christmas day today as Sold Out shows are reported across all parts of India. In fact film is performing better than Saturday as far as occupancy is concerned, when Morning and Noon shows are compared for both days. However ticket prices for Thursday (7th Day) in general is below than that of Saturday. PK has opened to bumper occupancy of 80% in Morning shows. After that film has picked up further and is currently registering a earth shattering occupancy of 85-90% on average across India. This is big.
Film is doing exceptionally well in places like Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Lucknow where almost all shows in Noon time are Sold Out. Places like Pune, Kanpur and Mumbai are also doing good with occupancy ranging from 65-90% there.

PK Thursday Occupancy Report for Noon Shows -

Delhi - 95-100%
Gurgaon - 95-100%
Mumbai - 65-70%
Pune - 85-90%
Hyderabad - 95-100%
Kanpur - 75-80%
Lucknow - 95-100%

PK is challenging 30 crore nett for the 7th day despite lesser ticket price than Saturday. Film is bound to cross 25 crore nett after the stupendous start for the day. If Evening and Night shows good numbers then film is heading for a unbelievable 30 crore nett mark which will be just out of this world.

  5. Agree with you guys. PK trending is extra ordinary. At Pune Bookmyshow is showing so many shows housefull. Same is story at single screens. Aamir, Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra is deadly combination. It will surely beat D3 in second week. Way to go PK

  8. Indian fans still fighting over 200 crore and 300 crore ie like 35 million USD to 50 million USD. Shrek and Kung Fu Panda have bigger 1st day then that....
Stop fighting as fans of actors who are even smaller then Hollywood cartons.

Rajnikant's Tamil films are released in only 4 South Indian states but they make more money then movies of Bollywood which release in 20 plus states.

Bollywood needs to dig deep as is evident that more people saw Sholay and Gaddar in theatres then any of recent hits.

Hindi speaking population in India is 80 crores but no movie is seen by more then 1 crore people so rather then just hiking ticket prices Bollywood needs rational ticket pricing and more viewers to experience movies in theatres.

    1. Dear Rakesh,

Very True Words. Will add that, if content is liked more ppl will come to theaters. Yes, ticket price hike should be logical also.. Hope makers look into 2014 and start making better movies in coming days. Thanks for such nice words!!

  10. I hv little difference of opinion on content as people can have different tastes.

In Hollywood animation, super hero, special effects, horror every genre does huge buisness, in Bollywood animation & horror are virtually non existent.

Few years ago certain smaller movies like Iqbal, Wednesday were doing good buisness but now if the movie is good but not perceived as big like Highway with a A list director top heroine and a bankable lead avtor does a buiness of 20- 25 crores which at 200 Rs ticket is 10 to 15 lakh tickets sold in a country of 125 crores.

Theatre capacity had increased atleast 3 times in last 10 years now the exhibitors and makers have to understand that instead of running at 20% capacity for major part of year to reduce ticket prices and increase occupancies.

Also content is not what people are looking for as is evident that critics ratings dont matter.

A movie like Suleimani Keeda playing next to Brad Pitt movie cannot command same ticket price.....

Movie tickets should not be priced according to theatre they are playing in there have to be fixed maintenance charges and major component has to be charge as the movies brand value is, multiplexes will only gain if footfall increases rather then running empty ghost houses.

Recently saw few top films in 2nd week and theatre resembled like a ghost house with 25 - 30 people scattered in a 500 capacity theatre.

Tickets of top Bond movie and Vinay Pathak starrer on Saturday nihht cost Rs 350 at some top multipkexes.... few years down multiplexes will also go down as they cannot survive only on high clientelle and Hollywood movies.
