PK had a good first day (Friday) at box office as it has collected around 26.6 crore nett. Film is just marginally ahead of Kick (1st day - 26.4 crore nett) and thus taken biggest non-holiday opening of 2014. But PK ticket price is noticeably higher than Kick and also Kick is affected by Pre-Ramadan period. Kick trended superbly through the weekdays and hope PK also does the same in coming days.
PK performed pretty well in multiplexes across all parts of India. But business in single screen specially in mass dominated centers is just average to good. Good business in plexes has ensured a solid start for PK at box office. Early trends of multiplexes suggested that film might collect close to 30 crore nett for day one. But film failed to get necessary support from single screens across India and failed to touch expected numbers by few crores. Still numbers are pretty good though for 1st day.
PK makes the return of Aamir Khan as actor and Rajkumar Hirani as director. Both given landmark Hit in 3 Idiots earlier and much is again expected from then with PK. Start is still good for PK if not excellent. Film now needs to hold well on Saturday (2nd day) and hope that registers big jump on Sunday (3rd day) which will be its first Holiday.
