As predicted yesterday both new releases Daawat-e-Ishq and Khoobsurat had a moderate first day at box office. Daawat-e-Ishq collected around 3.5-3.75 crore nett on Friday, whereas Khoobsurat put up around 2.75-3 crore nett for day one.
Coming to Daawat-e-Ishq it is released on wide scale across India and had backing of YRF. Plus, film had good face value in Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur. Still film under performed in most part of India specially in 1st half. Second half of the day film picked up and hence, put up a strictly decent numbers for day one. Film needs to push further on Saturday and need to show up good jump if it has any chance of doing decent in first weekend.
As for Khoobsurat it has got limited release. Film performed more or less on expected level as there is not much expectation from it. Film had only face value in Sonam Kapoor. Plus, film got limited release. Film started slowly in Morning shows and with day progressing showed good jump specially in multiplexes. Film is absolute non-starter in single screens and will mainly ride on multiplex power from now on. A 4 crore nett for day one had been a decent start, but that is gone now. Film needs to pick up well on Saturday to put up decent numbers for opening weekend.
