2014 has been an average year till now and box office is bleeding badly because of dearth of Mega Hits and Blockbusters. Yes there are few pleasant surprises, but that is not just enough as it wants big grossers also. Jai Ho released in January 2014 still holds the biggest grosser of the year tag, closely followed by an unexpected 2 States. Now Indian Box Office is into the last month of first half of 2014. With June first half of 2014 will end. So, its high time that Bollywood delivers some big hit in June 2014 and which are the movies to look after that in coming days.
We have shortlisted three movies, those are Holiday - A Soldier if Never Off Duty, Humshakals and Ek Villain which are or rather should shine in June 2014 Box Office India.
Starting with Holiday (2014). Film stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead role. Govinda is playing a special role in the film. Film is a remake of Thuppakki (2012) Tamil Film. Film is directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Akshay is playing Virat Bakshi, Captain in DIA (Defence Intelligence Agency), whereas Sonakshi is playing Saiba, a Boxer. Govinda is playing a Senior Commanding Officer to Akshay in the film.
Fans of Akshay Kumar is having a long wait as they are generally not use to it. They are eagerly waiting for the flick to release so that they can watch their hero in the big screen. Plus, there is a nice story that carry the film. Songs are creating decent buzz among the listeners. Holiday should in all probability be the next 100 crore film for Bollywood and Akshay Kumar. Anything less than that will be a big disappointment among the trade and all the fans who are waiting for the much awaited movie.
Next is Humshakals which stars Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Esha Gupta and Tamannaah Bhatia. Film is directed by Sajid Khan. With boast of multi-star cast in the film and expected full on entertainer, film should do well at box office. Sajid Khan is trying to bounce back after the debacle of Himmatwala last year. Saif needs a big hit to his repertoire after the flop of Go Goa Gone and Bullet Raja. It would be icing in the cake for him if film goes on to touch 100 crore, but in reality that's an uphill task to climb.
Last significant release of June 2014 is Ek Villain starring Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Shraddha Kapoor, Kamaal R Khan. Film music is creating all the buzz and most songs are runaway Hit already. Film is directed by talented Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor. Nowadays, if film music is good and story line is nice, then film marches ahead to be one of the biggest grossers at box office, even if there is no superstar on board. Same can be expected from Ek Villain. As music of the film is already Hit and if content is good then expect this film to be one of the dark horses of the year.
So, what's your expectation from June 2014 at Indian Box Office. Do share your thoughts to us. Which of the above films will shine at box office and be the No.1 Grosser of the month. Is any of these films have legs to challenge Jai Ho to be the biggest grosser of the year? Or there are few surprises ahead for the month?
