Jai Ho is the first big release of 2014 and it carries tremendous expectations because it stars Salman Khan in lead role. Jai Ho is a film that carries a social cause in addition to entertainment quotient. It is not a typical Salman Khan film, but in a way it is also. So, let's start the movie review of Jai Ho with much fanfare.
Jai (Salman Khan) is a suspended Army Officer. Jai is strictly against injustice and can't tolerate a little bit of it. He is always available to help others whenever one is in need or dire strait. He not only helps others but ask them not to say 'Thank You,' instead help 3 other people who are in need. Jai works on this human chain to build a better society. While going through this process Jai comes face to face with evil deeds of Home Minster Dashrat Singh. When both their life collides with each other sparks evolves and a war between good versus evil begins. Thus, how Dashrat Singh terrorises Jai and his family. And how Jai Saves his family from the hold of Dashrat Singh is the rest of the storyline.
Film first half mainly emphasizes on the introduction of the film characters. Also, it shows how Jai tries to develop a Human Chain of helping 3 people. Second half is mainly the dual between Jai and his family against the corrupt politician Dashrat and his goons.
Film music is the low point as few songs comes as speed breaker in the film. Salman Khan films generally boast of good music, but same can't be said about Jai Ho. Although few songs are situational for example 'Baaki Sab First Class' and go with the flow of the film.
Coming to performances. Salman Khan is the Heart and Soul of the film. He delivers yet another fabulous performance and comes head and shoulder above others. He roars like never before and strikes with vengeance in the big screen. His action scenes are just too brilliant and it can be easily said that he is our 'Last Action Hero.' Tabu delivers yet another good performance as 'Salman's' sister and gets a author backed role. Daisy Shah debuts well and looks nice in song and dance sequences. Her introduction in the film is fab. Danny Denzongpa is great as usual and plays the antagonist part in the film to the core. Santosh Shukla gets a good role and is revelation in the film. Pulkit Samrat gives justice to his role of Police Cop and looks promising. Suniel Shetty is wasted in the guest appearance. Sana Khan has not much to do in the film. Genelia D'Souza shines in her guest appearance and brings tears to our eyes. There are lot of other guest appearance which are of just one or two scene roles.
There is a strong support cast of Mahesh Manjrekar, Aditya Pancholi, Mohnish Bahl, Mukul Dev, Ashmit Patel, Yash Tonk, Vatsal Sheth, Tulip Joshi, Sudesh Lehri and others who does justice to their role in the film.
Verdict: Jai Ho is a noble attempt and has a nice message to carry with entertainment. Yes, it has loads of emotion and action, but it spreads a beautiful message of helping others. Plus, film has a mass hero in Salman Khan who will bring all the cheetis and taalis with his antics. Film will open big on the star power of Salman Khan and after that it has enough ammunition's to run well at box office for long run. Go and enjoy it.
Ratings: 3.5/5. Jai Ho!
