So, finally Singham movie review is done. Ajay Devgn is back and roaring like a Lion. Records will be shattered this weekend for sure.
The trend of atypical masala entertainers began all over again with WANTED, which was effectively emulated by the super-successful DABANGG. The larger-than-life hero knocks down 50 thugs and sends them flying in the air with just one punch. He romances the heroine. Puts his life at stake by catching the bull by the horns. Emerges victorious in the finale... Come to think of it, the Indian audience is starved for true-blue masala entertainers that were admired and revered in the 1970s and 1980s. Oh, can we ever forget the serpentine queues outside cinema halls to watch those movies, starring our fav stars? With SINGHAM, the Ajay Devgn - Rohit Shetty team goes back to their roots; both started with action films, if you recall -- PHOOL AUR KAANTE and ZAMEEN, respectively. SINGHAM is one of those earthy, traditional, uncomplicated masala movies that most of us grew up on. The protagonist of SINGHAM is not the desi version of James Bond, nor is he any kind of a superhero.
SINGHAM pays homage to the action films of 1970s, which was known for the heroism, death-defying action sequences and pulse pounding thrills. It's an acknowledgement to one of the most successful genres of Bollywood -- action movies -- known for the trademark good versus evil themes and well choreographed stunts. Unlike many films recently, SINGHAM revives memories of the bygone era that stressed on raw action and was rich in fist-to-fist combat scenes. In fact, it has traces of action that Ajay's father [Veeru Devgn] and Rohit's father [Shetty] immortalized in their movies. But SINGHAM is a film of today, hence the stunts are extremely stylized and polished in keeping with the times. It's raw power presented in a slick demeanor.
Since the time the first promo of SINGHAM went on air, for some strange reason, I've heard people calling it yet another adaptation of DABANGG. The sole similarity between the two films is that both Salman and Ajay wear uniforms in the film. Also, like DABANGG, it's a hero-villain drama. But beyond these two factors, there's no commonality actually. For those who aren't aware, SINGHAM is the remake of the Tamil hit SINGAM, a role made memorable by the towering talent Suriya.

Finally some good news for as far as Bodyguard movie is concerned. Bodyguard 1st look will come in one or two days time. Its official promo is planned for this weekend and hopefully with Singham release. Though it is one of the most awaited movie of the year and it is scheduled for 31st August Eid release, still no official 1st look and promo is released. Since, only around 1 month left for the film to be released. Its really rare that makers wait for such late to promote the movie with such hype and expectation nowadays. Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap Flop (Theatrical figure only).
Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap verdict is finally out. It collected around 11.3 crore nett all India for 1st week. It started poorly. Weekdays was steady, but it was on lower side. But, now after Delhi Belly wave and Murder 2 bumper opening, BHTB has collapsed badly. Nowadays film has to make good opening, since every week there is rush of new films and its very difficult to sustain from 2nd week. BHTB still will recover its cost and make slight profit from satellite rights, but overall from theatrical figure its a losing proposition all the way.

Murder 2 has taken a very good opening with collections on average 60-65% mark. In prime places like Delhi, Mumbai and south opening is little low because of Delhi Belly wave, but rest India its on par. Its look to be winner all the way for Bhatts again. Imran Hashmi is now more than a bankable star. Salute Murder brand. Awesome thriller. One of the best in recent times.
The other release of the week Chillar Party is a word of mouth film and had a low turnout till now as far as its opening shows were concerned. But, movies like this always picks late and will gain on Saturday and Sunday as Kids and family audience will turnout. Anyways, Chillar party is given Thumbs Up by crtics and Govt in many places made it Tax Free, which will benefit audiences as well as producers and financers. Must Watch.
Now lets come to main topic. Delhi Belly (DB) wave has started. A film generally lose its ground from 2nd week, since new films arrives by friday. But, in case of Delhi Belly its rock solid, many friday shows are still housefull, and hats off to Aamir Khan to create a new aura in Hindi film industry and for sure DB will be a trendsetter for most of upcoming movies in this era.

Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap (BHTB) has finally shown the BAAP power. Film business is slowly picking up. Though its still on lower side, but its steady. It has collected around 9 crore nett all India in 4 days. Its a tribute to the Salim-Javed films like Deewar, Zanjeer, Don etc when only angry 'young' man Mr. Amitabh Bachchan ruled Box office. They don't make any such movies now. Film has picked up on Saturday and further picked up on Sunday. Monday there is no such big drop as per early information. In some circuits its giving neck to neck fight.
Total: 8.52 crore nett.
Friday - 1.9 crore nett.
Saturday - 2.33 crore nett.
Sunday - 3.09 crore nett.
Monday - 1.2 crore nett (Early estimate).
Note: It is to be noted that after the initial hype and hoopla for Delhi Belly, few people are coming back to watch BHTB.

Delhi Belly rocking first day business. Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap poor first day business.
Delhi Belly has taken bumper opening since its for niche audience. It had a very good first day business. It was fourth best opening of 2011 after Ready, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Double Dhamaal. The film grossed around 6.5-7 crore nett approx on its first day.
Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap was very bad on its first day and needs huge turnaround on Saturday and Sunday to have even a small chance of scoring at the box office. The film grossed around 1.6-1.7 crore nett approx on its first day.

Salman Starrer 'Ek Tha Tiger' to be released on 1st July 2012.
Yash Raj Films romantic-thriller “EK THA TIGER” starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif goes on floor end July and is slated for a 1st June 2012 release.
The film is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Aditya Chopra.
The film is based on a story by Aditya Chopra and the Screenplay & Dialogues have been written by Kabir Khan and Neelesh Misra.
The music will be scored by Pritam.
The film has generated tremendous anticipation since its announcement.
Delhi Belly starts with bang. Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap opens poor.
So, finally the junta janardan verdict is out for the opening atleast. Delhi Belly has opened very well this morning with collections on average around 70% at multiplexes and 50-60% at single screens. It is very good opening as the movie is urban centric. First day collection all India will be huge and even mumbai circuits will be bumper. Producer, financer and distributer will laugh way to the bank. Sure shot success as per the start.
Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap had a poor opening at multiplexes of around 10-15%, the single screens were a bit better at around 20-25%. The film will have to have a big turnaround to score at the box office but early reports are not encouraging. The film has better chances at small centres but even here opening is too low and big jump is needed. The film has low costs so should cover costs through non theatrical rights like Satellite and Home Video but will find it very tough to score theatrically at the box office.

Aamir khan to write script for his next film! Kiran Rao will direct!
Not only has he been a prolific actor and filmmaker, Aamir Khan has even penned the story for one of his early films - 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' and wrote the screenplay for 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke'.
Now, he is all set to wield the magic of the pen with a new script that he is co-writing with wife Kiran, cousins Mansoor and Nuzhat Khan.
Delhi belly is shocking, bold and naughty! Its going to open huge!
Delhi Belly looks set to post big numbers this week and beat the competition of Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap and Transformers 3 as far as the opening numbers are concerned..
Delhi Belly has super hit music and the youth is waiting for the film to hit the theatres. There is no doubt that Friday will be huge, possibly even the second biggest of 2011. After that it will depend on content. The advance is strong where ever it has started.

Ready collected 2 crore nett in 4th Weekend. Rock steady!
Ready was always going to have a fall this week as Double Dhamaal released but it still managed to collect around 2 crore nett in its fourth weekend.
It is its first major week to week drop since release but it was expected as it was first time it had a major release for competition.
The film has now grossed around 117 crore nett till the end of its fourth weekend. Lifetime business will be around 120 crore nett.
